Stunning Gothic Wedding - Kilhey Court Hotel Wedding, Wigan - Liv and Leon

Liv and Leon’s Gothic Styled wedding. OMG. Where to start?!

Growing up I was a huge fan of the Nu-Metal and Rock Scene and when a chance to photograph a Gothic styled wedding came across my desk my answer was always going to be YES! YES PLEASE!

The best part of wedding photography is seeing how people’s tastes and personalities come through in their wedding day. Liv and Leon really made this wedding their own.

Kilhey Hall is a beautiful wedding venue

Kilhey Hall is a truly unique hidden gem. It's a beautiful Victorian building set just outside Wigan and boasts a large period conservatory around the rear. This opens out onto some stunning gardens that make you feel like you truly are in the countryside. The paths at the back meander down to a little pond that makes for a quiet, secluded and spacious are perfect for portraits and group shots alike.

Its the little touches that make the difference

Sometimes a little idea can make an incredible impact. Everyone could tell the Liv and Leon had thought of everything. There was a strong theme of black and red velvet for the grooms party that really accentuated that victorian gothic style. The bride sported a spectacular feathered ivory top hat which is one of the most spectacular wedding headdresses I have ever seen. The environment was filled with laughter and you really felt a true sense love for the future bride and groom.

A Cinderella-style entrance

On your wedding day every bride should feel like a princess, but Liv took this to the next level by arriving in a horse drawn carriage. She wowed us all when she arrived in an ivory white stage coach drawn by two black stallions. Stallions are surprisingly difficult to find for wedding events and these horses normally are used for funeral processions. Despite this the black horses with the white coach was really striking and perfectly fit the theme.

Wedding portraits with a difference — Kilhey Court Wedding, Wigan

The grounds made for a perfect backdrop for the after ceremony photos and this is where we really got to experience Liv and Leon’s personality. From twirled dance moves down the path, to metal horns with wedding rings, this was so much fun. The pictures were graceful, fun and so full of love, as they should be!

Congratulations Liv and Leon!
